Honesty is such a lonely word

“Happy Endings weaves multiple stories to create a witty look at love, family and the sheer unpredictability of life itself.”
It’s a comedy, sort of. For the sake of Lisa Kudrow I picked this movie, then I realized it was far more than a simple comedy, instead it’s a great lifestory. I spent 2 hours of my “Bachelor’s night”. And it’s worth the time.
Happy Ending begins with an unhappy ending, it then goes on with three stories of 10 major roles.
Some mid-age woman gave up abortion, gave birth to her son and then gave up the baby to adoption. Twenty years later a stranger came to her and said…”well I know about your son.”, although he was trying to blackmailing her. He was dishonest, only telling part of the truth.
Some Mexican immigrant, a masseur and also a sex-worker who provided special services with fingers only. He was also dishonest. He married a woman to get the green card.
Some lesbian couple raising a kid, while their gay friend wondering whether they used his sperm but lied about it…
Some lonely father and gay son…happy ending that the father finally takes his son as “just the way he is”.
Some young talented girl who intoxicated me with her beautiful songs, she’d been through romantic relationship, which she thought will lead her to marriage, but gave up the fetus in her and left with grief.
…and these people are all connected, in one way or another. you see the stories moving on, sometimes depressing the narrating method is unique but familiar: using text captions for ‘forecasting”.
I especially love two songs from the movie, originally sung by Billy Joel, but I love the way they’re performed by this unknown female singer even better…I’ll try to find the download links and put them here. Now only lyrics available. Oh, you could easily get the Billy versions on the internet…just BAIDU it. hoho.
Just The Way You Are
by Billy Joel
Don’t go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don’t imagine you’re too familiar
And I don’t see you anymore
I wouldn’t leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I’ll take the bad times
I’ll take you just the way you are
Don’t go trying some new fashion
Don’t change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care
I don’t want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.
I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.
I said I love you and that’s forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.
Honesty
by Billy Joel
If you search for tenderness
It isn’t hard to find
You can have the love you need to live
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind
It always seems to be so hard to give
Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
I can always find someone
To say they sympathize
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve
But I don’t want some pretty face
To tell me pretty lies
All I want is someone to believe
Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you
I can find a lover
I can find a friend
I can have security
Until the bitter end
Anyone can comfort me
With promises again
I know, I know, I know
When I’m deep inside of me
Don’t be too concerned
I won’t ask for nothin’ while I’m gone
But when I want sincerity
Tell me where else can I turn
Because you’re the one that I depend on
Honesty is such a lonely word
Everyone is so untrue
Honesty is hardly ever heard
And mostly what I need from you

The singer that you’re looking for is Maggie Gyllenhaal. Just download the OST from emule and you can have her rendition in your collection. :em04:
Haha thanks for the info. I just got the ost several months ago…this article was written a year ago, you know :em04:
But my favorite song of Maggie Gyllenhaal(man! did you actually spelled this word on your own, I mean, without checking with Google???), HONESTY, is not included in the OST! weird enough. Anyway, I still got a copy because someone extracted the song from the video :em03:
